This projector from Nec utilizes Laser-LCD technology, achieving 1500 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 400:1 at a resolution of SVGA 800 x 600. According to Nec, the included lamp lasts up to 2000 hours. Regarding projection size, the value of 1500 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 337 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 225 cm. With a value of only 28 decibels, the noise level during operation remains pleasantly in the background. This model dates back to 2005 and is no longer part of Nec's current product range.
Standard-Portabel | External training and company presentations, as well as product presentations. Small screen width, rooms with very little ambient light below 50 lumens.
I have had the projector for 4 or 5 years and use it mostly for DVD movies. I use either the laptop or a DVD player in different places. If you can darken the room a little, the picture is fantastic. Wall color balance is great, as are the other settings. I also use it for powerpoint and the result has always been good enough for my audience.
The only problem I have is that sometimes the lamp doesn‘t come on and the status light flashes 6 times. It usually helps to turn the lamp on and off once. I move the projector around a lot, maybe that‘s why. The short distance to the screen is great. Also the zoom )digital)

Top suitable for DVD VHS and consoles
Have had my VT37 hanging from the ceiling for over 2 years and use it as a TV. Via S-VHS cable on the receiver or VGA cable on the computer for movies, because 800x600 doesn‘t give much for Windows and the grid is really annoying.
!!!!!!! my lamp has been running 99% in ECO mode for 5128 hours as of 08.05.10 !!!!!!!!
At 4100St it switched to standby and could no longer be switched on, then I pressed the help button for 10 seconds as NEC writes in the instructions if you had installed a new lamp and it still works.
Let‘s see when it defuses it.
Write to you then how long it lasted. Mfg angel

Great projector with real wide angle
Great device, very quiet with a bright, brilliant picture and great features. The real hit is the wide-angle lens: you get large diagonals even in small spaces - otherwise only large devices with interchangeable lenses can achieve this.
Although I primarily watch DVDs with the device, I have also made a presentation from a notebook. In contrast to Bernd, I found the quality quite OK. At 1024*768 px², even small fonts are easy to read. Perhaps Bernd meant higher resolutions from 1280*1024 px² or is comparing the device with projectors in the 2000-euro class ...
PS.
The projector can be set to different wall colors. It really works - I have a very clean white on my yellow wall, for example!

unsuitable for presentations
The device was offered at NORMA at a reasonable price. Although it has a great design and is very handy, it is unfortunately unsuitable for PowerPoint presentations or digital image views: blurred pixelated letters with shadows, pixel fly screen is very visible, slanted lines in still images have visible pixel stepping. I didn‘t test home cinema as I didn‘t need it. I returned the device and got my money back.
