The NP600S / EDU is a LCD projector by Nec, whose specifications list 2600 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 500:1 and a XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. The runtime of the lamp in this model is estimated at 3000 hours before a replacement is necessary. Looking at practical performance, up to 444 cm can be illuminated with 2600 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 296 cm. For convenient remote monitoring and administration, the projector is equipped with a classic RJ45 network socket. The projector was released in 2009 and is officially no longer distributed by Nec.

We tested several short-throw projectors before choosing the NP600S. The NP600S has very good colors, a bright picture and, above all, straight picture edges, making it suitable for projection onto precisely aligned screens. The loss of sharpness from bottom to top (away from the lens) is low for a short-throw projector. The volume is tolerable. It is suitable for ceiling projection, although here (as with all other projectors!) the shorter lamp life and increased noise level must be taken into account.
