As a projector for the High-End Homecinema sector, the Sony VPL HW65 is equipped with 1800 ANSI lumens, a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution and a contrast of 120000:1. In operating mode, the installed projector lamp offers a lifespan of 6000 hours. A daily usage of 2 hours makes an operational lifespan of 8.2 years possible. The presence of a lens shift function enables flexible vertical or horizontal positioning of the projector. The achievable distances are shown in the Lens Shift Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 431 cm can be illuminated with 1800 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 287 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P as well as 3D are supported. For convenient remote monitoring and administration, the projector is equipped with a classic RJ45 network socket. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 22 decibels. Since entering the market in 2015, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model. As an archive device, the projector remains highly relevant in our database.
