Model Overview Equipped with SXRD technology, the Sony VPL HW30 offers 1300 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 70000:1 and is designed as a versatile projector. In operating mode, the installed projector lamp offers a lifespan of 2000 hours.
In terms of image alignment, the model offers an optical lens shift function, allowing the image to be shifted without quality loss. The exact adjustment leeway can be calculated in the Distance Calculator.
Looking at practical performance, up to 366 cm can be illuminated with 1300 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 244 cm.
In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P as well as 3D.
Regarding noise emissions, the model proves to be exceptionally quiet during operation, producing just 22 decibels. The projector was released in 2011 and is officially no longer distributed by Sony. However, it remains frequently searched within our database.

5 Stars Better than expected
the projector is absolutely amazing

previously I had the Samsung sp f10m

this projector can‘t be compared with it at all
the picture is extremely sharp
I certainly haven‘t regretted buying it

3D I can‘t say yet as I haven‘t tried it out yet

5 Stars An absolute top projector
I‘ve had this projector for about 6 months now and have to say that I‘m still as enthusiastic about this picture in 2D and 3D as I was on the first day. I have also looked at other projectors, such as the Epson 9000 and Mitsubishi 7800, but none had such a smooth and sharp picture as the Sony HW30. I think the 3D picture is unbeatable in this price range!
Anyone looking for a top projector in this price range will certainly not be disappointed - full marks from me!

3 Stars Good 3d picture
I think the super-smooth 3d display of the Sony is great, and in contrast to some other postings here, I find the brightness quite usable, at least if you don‘t overdo it with the picture width. The color balance of the hw30 is very good. With regard to the 2d picture, however, I have to say that the contrast and black levels of the sony device are not necessarily among the best on the market compared to other sxrds/dilas/dlps in this price range.

1 Star Much too dark in 3d!
With the brightness that the HW 30 offers in 3d, you won‘t be happy with a picture width of 2.80 meters (3.05 meters diagonally) in 21:9 format. In addition, the contrast values in the 2d range are not exactly a hit (without dynamic iris diaphragm anyway, because I always switch off such diaphragms). I had the projector at home for a week to test it and sent it back.

5 Stars 3D addiction risk!
previously had an Epson 5500 Contrast was slightly better,
deeper black but very hard picture in short,
somewhat artificial but still ok.
Then I saw the Sonny VPL HW30 in comparison against Mitsubishi HC7800 and JVC X30
I liked the Sony best, very analog picture outstanding colors, absolutely quiet no knocking
aperture.
The JVC X30 has a slightly better black in 2D
but in 3D too much unrest not smooth enough.
Mitsubishi was better there but also
cannot match the Sonny in terms of Fi in 3D but it was brighter
than the Sony, but only at level 2 then the Mits.7800 was but again louder than the Sony
in short Mitsb.7800 is brighter than Sony and very
homogeneous colors, less tiring for the eyes.
But the glasses of the Mits.7800 are uncomfortable smaller windows that are far apart I
sorry I didn‘t like it.
Ach ja what was also positive about Mits.7800 as good
as no gohsting at Sony only minimal to none
In short Sony with the best colors super Fi in 3D
superior 3D mega sharp
Mitsubishi HC7800 and Sony VPL HW30 are great
3D projectors with different features
both convince with the best 3D pictures
in this class although Mits.7800 is praised as a prospective 3D reference for 2012!
I still liked the Sony better for a long time back and forth, so please invest a lot of time
and compare extensively

4 Stars Great 3D picture but....
Great picture in 3D mode thanks to FL but a little dark for me. Nice 2D picture but worse than the JVC. Be sure to compare.

5 Stars A dream of a projector!!
My third Sony projector (after the VW60 and HW15) and the best so far!

Starting with the generous settings (RCP, 7 gamma, blanking, panel calibration, etc.), the extremely quiet operation (even in 3D mode, sometimes I have to check to see if its even turned on) and most importantly: the brilliant image!!!
Contrast, sensational black level and the best colors Ive ever seen on screen!

The 3D image is the icing on the cake the icing on the cake; finally reasonably bright and, thanks to the Motionflow, so smooth in motion that even prolonged viewing with the glasses (which, by the way, are very light) is no problem!

Conclusion: for €3300, an awesome device that turns every movie into a highlight (with Blu-ray, of course)!

5 Stars Beamer of the reference class
The absolute hammer! Not only the 3D picture is outstanding but also in 2D. Previously had an Epson TW 1000 and now this!

Watched 24 hours of movies in 3D at the weekend!

I can only say: Recommendation to buy:

Pro:

Good price/performance

Very quiet fan even in high mode
Genius picture

5 Stars 1A!! 3D on the rise!
An amazing 3D image! Super bright and the FI works great! The best Ive seen so far. My opinion: in rooms with low light, it noticeably outperforms the X3!
The glasses are great to wear and work perfectly.
A clear buy recommendation.
