Model Overview The projector EB S62 by Epson utilizes LCD technology and, according to the spec sheet, achieves 2000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 2000:1 at a resolution of SVGA 800 x 600. According to Epson, the lamp has a durability of 3000 hours.
Regarding projection size, the value of 2000 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 389 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 259 cm.
This model dates back to 2008 and is no longer part of Epson's current product range. In our projector directory, the device still generates high interest.

5 Stars Bought in 2008, still satisfied (2024!)
Bought the device new in 2008 for approx. 400€, used for 4 years or approx. 800 hours in the student flat share (without screen, directly on the white wallpaper. Completely fine.)

Mothballed for 12 years, always taken along in the box when moving and stored further, now taken out again for idea home cinema in the basement to try it out

With screen (gain 1.1) in the darkened basement, top! Still more than adequate for home cinema after 16 years.

Clearly, no comparison with the 4k daylight projectors in the company.

But to watch Disney DVDs up and down with the kids, absolutely sufficient.
(I can also still agree with michael‘s review from 18.12.2011 (!!) in 2024.

I‘ve even got the old Dreamcast out again now. What fun!

Little gripe: the fan is quite loud in normal mode. Therefore always ECO. You hardly notice the difference in light

Surprisingly, I‘ve put off buying a new one until further notice and will use the S62 until it dies. Great part.

5 Stars Amazing
I bought this LCD projector as a 2nd device for the PC (I set up a small home cinema corner especially for it)At the low new price I thought - well - will be just enough...
I then connected the computer to it via VGA cable...then threw a test image onto the screen via Google ...Wohw...really great bright picture & above all sharp (and still in Eco mode)
..then came the madness..try it yourself:
Youtube has a 10 minute video in 720/1080 p HD :New Zealand in High Definition...
the pictures simply breathtaking...Conclusion a very cheap projector with unimagined picture qualities!!!
Should you ever get such a cheap one...then buy it..Merry Christmas 2011...Author Michael

4 Stars Epson EB-s62 lamp hours
Hello everyone

I bought the projector second-hand myself and the previous owner has reset it

Is there any way to find out how many lamp hours it has run before? I have had it for almost a week now and the lamp hours are still at zero, although I have used it for about 6 hours at low lamp power

Can anyone tell me what the fault is? I would appreciate any information

5 Stars Super device!
Top device with super price/performance ratio!!!
Have connected my Xbox360 and there is practically no difference to the HD picture on a 42" plasma!!! Really a good device only a HDMI connection is missing, but there are converters for that!!!

5 Stars Epson
Yes you can rotate the picture! I would advise you to buy an HD Fury because you can also connect HDMI sources and then use the full resolution of the projector (1080i). I am completely satisfied with the projector for the price. I‘ve had many devices over 500 euros, but none could really keep up with the Epson! Super device for a small price I can only recommend to everyone

1 Star a question
can you mount the projector under the ceiling and rotate the image? Since I already have a bracket where the mount goes under the projector, I would be very happy to get an answer.

4 Stars Beamer defect?
Hello, I got the projector very cheaply via a sample sale, but without warranty. When I unpacked it and plugged it in, it turned out that the light bulb had been destroyed. There are a lot of glass splinters in the bulb. This suggests that it had probably been dropped.
I took the bulb out of the projector and then switched it on. After the fan starts up quietly, there is a brief rattling noise and then silence again. After about 1 minute again. Is this noise normal, e.g. because it is trying to adjust the bulb or looking for a bulb where there is none? It would be great if someone could try this out for me in a timely manner. Simply open the flap at the top (one screw) and remove the bulb (two screws), then put the cover on and switch it on - if this is normal, I would invest in a new bulb. But I‘m afraid that it might be killed by the projector because it might have a crack (the rattling noise)
I hope for your help
Greetings
Markus

5 Stars @Mac
Hello Mac,
I can‘t say that I can hear any high frequency sound from the projector. Your model must have had some manufacturing flaws.

Furthermore, I recommend everyone to keep the brightness setting of the projector permanently on "Low". This not only increases the lamp hours by a few hundred (theoretically), but also switches the fan control down a gear, which means that the noise of the projector is only half as noticeable. After a few hours of use, these are now a little louder but still even and not disturbing.

And now a word about the USB COM control option. Via the COM port, the corresponding driver and the HyperTerminal or a self-written program for this purpose, it is relatively easy to control the projector via a PC. I now use the keyboard of my HTPC to send commands to the projector via key combinations and my script (e.g. switch on, switch off, standby). Information on this can be found in the manuals for the Epson projectors. Good luck

1 Star Not the right one for me...
Sent it back because the fan noise included a very high-pitched beeping sound. Couldn‘t get used to it. Maybe because I have a slight tinitus without it. I wonder if this was a design feature or a manufacturing defect? But I will look for another model.

5 Stars Very satisfied - correction
However, I recommend everyone to avoid the image correction functions for keystone correction and image width adjustment, as these are purely **digital** and lead to a clearly noticeable loss of quality.

5 Stars Very satisfied
I got hold of the projector via a special offer and unfortunately didn‘t find any reliable recommendations at the time. Here is my own opinion:

The housing of the projector makes a solid impression and the controls are easy to operate. The remote control supplied is also nice to look at. The device is not excessively heavy or large.

As far as the volume of the built-in fan is concerned, it is of course clearly audible, as with all normal projectors, but the steady noise is quickly ignored.

Let‘s move on to the picture quality: my projection screen has a width of 200cm and I am very satisfied with the picture quality. At a resolution of 800x600, the pixels are certainly visible on closer inspection, but I personally don‘t mind them. The brightness is sufficient even in normal daylight and the picture and contrast meet my expectations in a darkened room. However, I recommend that you avoid using the image correction functions for keystone correction and image width, as these are purely optical and lead to a clearly noticeable loss of quality. Apart from that, the procedures work well and, when used, achieve the desired result.

Now a word about the other features. The operation and menu of the projector make an all-round good impression. The fact that the projector has no cool-down time is a nice touch. The ability to send commands to the projector via the USB interface (switch on, switch off, ...) may please home cinema enthusiasts. The fact that video from the PC can also be routed via the USB port (for presentations or similar, unsuitable for moving images) may also be of interest to many

I use the projector mainly as a TV replacement and can fully recommend it. Anyone who is satisfied with the technical details will certainly be pleased with the projector for the good price

Greetings Thomas
