Thanks to the combination of optical lens shift and digital keystone correction, the projected image's position can be adjusted very flexibly. The Lens Shift Calculator helps find the optimal installation dimensions. Regarding projection size, the value of 2700 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 528 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 352 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content and 4K. Also on board is a local media player that allows reading and playing content directly from storage media. For convenient remote monitoring and administration, the projector is equipped with a classic RJ45 network socket. again, after some adjustments, I can say that the dark areas are also well defined. The black is black and not gray, content stands out well and does not fade. This works with REC 709 and also with BT2020 with HDR. The HU810s tracing is better compared to the Sony HW55.

I bought the projector as a replacement for my Sony HW55 because I wanted to switch to a 4K projector with extended color space and frame-adaptive HDR, the LG meets all my requirements except 3D. The LG has a better in-picture contrast and brings more light onto the screen than the Sony HW55. The detail in dark areas of the picture doesn‘t seem quite as good as the Sony HW55, but I may not have found the right setting yet. I find the LG slightly louder in terms of noise level, which is probably due to the different sound of the fans. At full laser power the noise level is not disturbing, I sit directly under the device and project onto a 2.65m wide screen with 1.0 gain from a distance of approx. 4.5m. The lens image is very sharp, the lens shift controls are more precise than those on the Sony, and the colors are much better than on the HW55. I could not detect any laser sparring. The sharpness of movement is very good, I didn‘t see any artifacts. I tried out various settings on the projector from YouTube, but I wasn‘t convinced by them, so everyone will probably have to find their own settings, which will take some time given the number of settings available. Basically, I can recommend the projector and for me it is a good successor to my Sony HW55. The built-in media player (I use Netflix, Disney and Prime) supplies my Arcam receiver with the necessary picture and sound via a 10m optical HDMI cable via ARC, which works very well. I don‘t notice the feared rainbow effect when watching movies. When hung under the ceiling, the projector produces stray light on the white ceiling about 50cm away. This was eliminated with a small aluminum bracket covered with black light-absorbing velvet. I would give the LG HU810 4.5 stars for price performance (10.2024 for around 1700€), a good purchase recommendation for people who want to deal with the picture settings
