The Schneider Kreuznach CDP 3500 is a LED-DLP projector offering 3500 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 1800:1 and a resolution of HDTV 1920 x 1080. According to Schneider Kreuznach, the included lamp lasts up to 2000 hours. The presence of a lens shift function enables flexible vertical or horizontal positioning of the projector without digital interference. A major advantage for professional installations is the ability to use interchangeable lenses, allowing the projector to adapt to highly varied projection distances. Which optic is required for a specific case can easily be calculated via the Projection Calculator. Regarding projection size, the value of 3500 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 601 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 401 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. This model dates back to 2010 and is no longer part of Schneider Kreuznach's current product range. However, it remains frequently searched within our database.

We‘ve been using a Schneider-Kreuznach CDP 3500 in our home theater/projection area since 2014. We bought the device new via Ebay for just under 400. One of the best purchases we‘ve ever made. The CDP 3500 is of course a monster made of metal Full Metal Jacket, big, heavy as hell (17kg) and quite loud. The latter is not a bad thing, as the projection takes place from another room, which is almost closed to the screening area (projection through the gap between two large old building doors!). We didn‘t want to spend a lot of money at the time, but we were tempted by the thought of a seemingly unsaleable high-end projector (as of 2011) at this price. As I said - no regrets. The picture is first class in all respects and we think that as movie producers and cineastes we can judge that quite well! A cheap 50,- screen, a cheap 70,- surround part and a 80,- Samsung player are used. What we see is magnificent and we imagine what a higher quality screen would achieve. We couldn‘t get a cheaper home theater of this quality. A cameraman friend of ours, an Oscar nominee (documentary film) and German Camera and Grimme Award winner, recently watched footage of this system and was completely impressed. He said you wouldn‘t notice that it was a beamer projection. That‘s right! It‘s a pity that it‘s no longer available, but it‘s nice that we were able to get it so cheaply - the asking price was 7000. Our rating/star rating is of course purely subjective, you certainly have to compare, but what we see is just awesome!

Now yes.
Although the projector is indeed very high quality, it can‘t really convince anyone who has already owned several projectors and in the home cinema sector. The device is noisy, the optics are blurred, the black level is poor, the highlights are overdriven and the shadows are dripping. Strictly speaking, the projector is a Runco/Planar/DPI projector that was largely designed for business use and was lovelessly configured by Schneider-Kreutznach as a home cinema projector. A terrific example of how you can make crap out of excellent technology from 2010/2011.

For 465 € simply unbeatable!!!
I was looking for a used projector and came across the CDP 3500 on Ebay. The Schneider projector is offered there for 465€. At first I was very suspicious of this offer; a professional projector at this price?
Now a copy is mounted 4 meters high on the ceiling of a recording studio and projects a sensational image onto the 3.50 meter wide screen. The light intensity would also be sufficient for larger screens without any problems. The lens shift is adjusted using a key supplied. I haven‘t seen any DLP "flashes" yet, but if you‘re more sensitive, you‘ll want an LCD or SXRD projector anyway. Contrast and black level are very good, depending on the DLP. A current high-end projector in the 4000€ class can probably achieve even more. The workmanship with the metal housing is superior to any plastic housing and absolutely solid. For the living room, it would be quite a bulky object on the ceiling and the fan is clearly audible at close range. But if you have space, don‘t need 3D, want to play on a giant screen and want an absolute professional device, the CDP 3500 is a sensational bargain at this price. Get it while it lasts!!!

Had already submitted an initial evaluation of the Schneider-Kreuznach projector to you a few days ago. No response to date! The question arises as to whether this preliminary evaluation does not fit into the overall concept and whether assessments and evaluations are only approved on the basis of ADAC practice. Very revealing for me! There are other ways of expressing your opinion

Have had the projector since 11.02.2014. First test confirmed the excellent properties of the projector! The black level, contrast and color brilliance are unbeatable, the menu is clearly laid out and there are plenty of setting options! The projector can be classified as a professional device, hats off to the designers and technicians of the Schneider group of companies! Only the weight and display during fast movements make it necessary to deduct half a point from my point of view.device therefore absolutely suitable for the projection of digital photos in connection with smooth video sequences.very good replacement for the aging slide projector.light output gigantic!

Stand: 2012/02 (I am not aware that there is already a successor model. Price on Ebay currently only €2k.)
The manual operation doesn‘t bother me, rather the relatively short lamp life. My evaluation initially only relates to the equipment and documentation, I don‘t yet have any operating experience (birthday present).
