HITACHI LAUNCH NEW FLAGSHIP CP-X995 LCD PROJECTOR 12 February 2003

4500 ANSI Lumen projector with enhanced performance and Motion Adaptive Progressive Scan

Hitachi Digital Media Group today announced the launch of the CP-X995 LCD projector for large venues and high ambient light conditions. Utilising Hitachi’s multi-lens technology and Motion Adaptive Progressive Scan (MAPS), it delivers high-brightness (4500 ANSI Lumens) and super-sharp XGA images and excellent video quality. Ideal for large auditoriums and lecture theatres, the CP-X995 offers a display size up to 300 inches (diagonal) plus all the connectivity, user features and performance expected for such environments - but at an affordable price.

“The CP-X995 offers customers an excellent price-performance package at this end of the market,” comments Nick Rogers, of Hitachi Digital Media Group. “It is ideal for installation in large venues, offering vivid and bright presentations without compromising on clarity and sharpness of image. The CP-X995 also offers customers a range of features that make it simple to set-up and run, including the ‘MyScreen’ option for a personalised start-up screen, integrated horizontal and vertical keystone correction and a remote control with laser pointer that also operates as the PC mouse.”

MAPS technology adds intelligence to the projection of images and moving objects. It reduces flicker, enables a higher resolution and adds smoothness to objects that move on screen. To create the persistence needed for smooth images, MAPS combines the two fields required in a memory buffer. Unlike conventional line-doubling, these frames in the memory buffer are then projected twice giving the continuity needed for a sharp, flicker-free image. This method avoids the pitfalls of reduced resolution and line flicker usually found with line-doubling techniques.

In addition, to prevent fast moving objects from shifting between odd and even fields, and thereby causing a broken up appearance, Hitachi’s CP-X995 projector employs sophisticated image processing techniques to isolate a moving object on screen so that the field lines can be aligned and combined to ensure the object is shown in the correct position in each frame, giving the effect of smoother motion and a better quality picture.
